Bibliographical Center for Research

Bibliographical Center for Research was a library cooperative and regional libraries network. Its members included over 8000 libraries in an 11-state region (Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming) of the western United States. BCR was created in 1935 and was the nation’s oldest and most established multistate library cooperative. Its services included assisting researchers and libraries with locating materials held in libraries outside their local community, card catalog creation, consulting, product and service discounts, and training in computer systems. BCR also offered OCLC products and services. Membership in BCR was funded by state library agencies, who paid for statewide membership on behalf of all libraries in their states. BCR (Bibliographical Center for Research) was a 501(c)3 nonprofit headquartered in Aurora, Colorado. It has closed as of December 31, 2010. Its organizational records have been deposited at the University of Denver archives.
